To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Grand Cherokee has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Both the Grand Cherokee and the A6 Allroad have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, night vision systems and around view monitors.

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Grand Cherokee 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Audi covers the A6 Allroad. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the A6 Allroad ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Jeep pays for scheduled maintenance on the Grand Cherokee for 3 years and unlimited miles. Jeep will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance (up to 3 oil changes). Audi only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the A6 Allroad.

There are almost 8 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Audi dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Grand Cherokee’s warranty.

Power ranks Jeep higher than Audi.

The Grand Cherokee’s optional 5.7 V8 produces 22 more horsepower (357 vs. 335) and 21 lbs.-ft. more torque (390 vs. 369) than the A6 Allroad’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid. The Grand Cherokee 4Xe’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid produces 40 more horsepower (375 vs. 335) and 101 lbs.-ft. more torque (470 vs. 369) than the A6 Allroad’s 3.0 turbo V6 hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the Grand Cherokee 4Xe running on electricity gets better mileage than the A6 Allroad (57 city/56 hwy MPGe vs. 21 city/28 hwy).

The Grand Cherokee 4Xe can drive on battery power alone for up to 26 miles. The A6 Allroad must run its internal combustion engine to move.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Grand Cherokee V8’s fuel efficiency. The A6 Allroad doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Grand Cherokee’s wheelbase is 1.5 inches longer than on the A6 Allroad (116.7 inches vs. 115.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Grand Cherokee is .6 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than on the A6 Allroad.

The Grand Cherokee’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The A6 Allroad has neither an oil pressure gauge nor a temperature gauge.

The Grand Cherokee’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The A6 Allroad’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.
