Compare the2022 Infiniti QX80VS 2022 Jeep Wagoneer

The QX80 Sensory’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Wagoneer doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front and middle seat shoulder belts of the Infiniti QX80 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jeep Wagoneer doesn’t offer height-adjustable middle seat belts.

Both the QX80 and the Wagoneer have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available all wheel drive.

The QX80 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Wagoneer’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 24,000 miles sooner.

Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the QX80 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jeep covers the Wagoneer. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Wagoneer ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The QX80’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Wagoneer’s (7 vs. 5 years).

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the QX80 has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the engines in the Wagoneer.

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the QX80 has a standard 780-amp battery. The Wagoneer’s 730-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 23rd in reliability. With 4 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jeep is ranked 24th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 8 places higher in reliability than Jeep.

The QX80’s 5.6 DOHC V8 produces 8 more horsepower (400 vs. 392) and 9 lbs.-ft. more torque (413 vs. 404) than the Wagoneer’s standard 5.7 V8 hybrid.

On the EPA test cycle the QX80 AWD gets better highway fuel mileage than the Grand Wagoneer 6.4 OHV V8 (13 city/19 hwy vs. 13 city/18 hwy).

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Infiniti QX80 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The Grand Wagoneer requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The QX80’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Wagoneer are solid, not vented.

The QX80 Luxe’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 60 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Wagoneer Off-Road’s 65 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the QX80 Luxe has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the Wagoneer Off-Road.

The QX80 has a standard full size spare tire so a flat doesn’t interrupt your trip. A full size spare isn’t available on the Wagoneer; it requires you to depend on a temporary spare, which limits mileage and speed before replacement.

The rear suspension of the QX80 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Wagoneer, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The QX80 Sensory offers an available active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Jeep doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Wagoneer.

For greater off-road capability the QX80 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Wagoneer (9.2 vs. 8.3 inches), allowing the QX80 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Infiniti QX80 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 300 to 500 pounds less than the Jeep Wagoneer.

The QX80 is 4.5 inches shorter than the Wagoneer, making the QX80 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The QX80’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Wagoneer’s (8500 vs. 7180 pounds).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than Jeep. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti third in service department satisfaction. With a 67% lower rating, Jeep is ranked 28th.

The QX80’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Wagoneer’s standard rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

If the windows are left open on the QX80 the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Wagoneer can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

In poor weather, headlights can lose their effectiveness as grime builds up on their lenses. This can reduce visibility without the driver realizing. The QX80 Sensory has standard headlight washers to keep headlight output high. The Wagoneer doesn’t offer headlight washers.

The Wagoneer’s optional cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The QX80 Sensory’s standard adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.
