Safety
Warranty
The Q60 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The 1’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.
Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the Q60 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than Polestar covers the 1. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Polestar 1 ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.
There are over 10 times as many Infiniti dealers as there are Polestar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Q60’s warranty.
Reliability
A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the Q60’s reliability 20 points higher than the Polestar 1.
Fuel Economy and Range
The Q60 has 4.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the Polestar 1 (20 vs. 15.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.
Tires and Wheels
The Q60 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.
Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the Q60 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.
Suspension and Handling
The front and rear suspension of the Q60 uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the Polestar 1, which uses torsion bars in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Q60’s wheelbase is 4.2 inches longer than on the Polestar 1 (112.2 inches vs. 108 inches).
For better maneuverability, the Q60’s turning circle is .7 feet tighter than the Polestar 1’s (36.7 feet vs. 37.4 feet).
Chassis
The Infiniti Q60 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 1150 to 1450 pounds less than the Polestar 1.
The Q60 Luxe/Sport/Red Sport 400 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.
Passenger Space
Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Q60 a Subcompact car, while the Polestar 1 is rated a Minicompact.
The Q60 has 13.4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the Polestar 1 (85.4 vs. 72).
The Q60 has 1.1 inches more front legroom, 1.2 inches more rear headroom, 11.5 inches more rear legroom, 4.6 inches more rear hip room and 2.3 inches more rear shoulder room than the Polestar 1.
Cargo Capacity
The Q60 has a much larger trunk than the Polestar 1 (8.7 vs. 4.4 cubic feet).
The Q60’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer folding rear seats.
Servicing Ease
The engine in the Q60 is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the Polestar 1. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.
Ergonomics
The Q60’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. Polestar does not offer a locking feature on the Polestar 1’s power windows.
Model Availability
The Q60 is available in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
