Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Q60 Luxe/Red Sport 400 has standard Back-up Collision Intervention that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The RC doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The Q60 Luxe/Red Sport 400 has a standard Around View® Monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The RC only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Q60 and the RC have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, collision warning systems, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all-wheel drive, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The Q60 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The RC’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

The Q60’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the RC’s (7 vs. 6 years).

To reliably start during all conditions and help handle large electrical loads, the Q60 has a standard 600-amp battery. The RC’s 580-amp battery isn’t as powerful.

For better traction, the Q60 has larger standard tires than the RC (255/40R19 vs. 235/40R19). The Q60 Red Sport 400’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the RC (F:255/35R20 & R:275/30R20 vs. F:235/40R19 & R:265/35R19).

The Q60’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the RC’s standard 45 series tires. The Q60 Red Sport 400’s 255/35R20 front and 275/30R20 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the RC’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Q60 has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the RC. The Q60 Red Sport 400’s 20-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels optional on the RC.

The Q60 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The RC doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the Q60 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The RC doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Q60’s wheelbase is 4.7 inches longer than on the RC (112.2 inches vs. 107.5 inches).

The Q60 Red Sport 400 AWD handles at .88 G’s, while the RC 350 pulls only .85 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The design of the Infiniti Q60 amounts to more than styling. The Q60 offers aerodynamic coefficients of drag from .28 to .29 Cd (depending on bodystyle and options). That is lower than the RC (.31 to .32). A more efficient exterior helps the Q60 go faster and keeps the interior quieter. It also helps the Q60 get better fuel mileage.

The Q60 Luxe/Sport/Red Sport 400 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The RC doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Q60 has 5.1 inches more rear legroom, 3 inches more rear hip room and 1.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the RC.

The Q60’s power window, power lock, power mirror and cruise control switches are lit from behind, making them plainly visible and easier to operate at night. The RC’s cruise control switches are unlit, making them difficult to find at night and operate safely.

The Q60’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The RC’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the Q60 Red Sport 400 offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The RC doesn’t offer cornering lights.
