Compare the2022 Infiniti Q60VS 2022 BMW 4 Series Coupe

The Q60 Luxe/Red Sport 400 has a standard Around View® Monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The 4 Series Coupe only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Q60 and the 4 Series Coupe have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, collision warning systems, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all-wheel drive, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The Q60 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The 4 Series Coupe’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the Q60 2 years and 20,000 miles longer than BMW covers the 4 Series Coupe. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the 4 Series Coupe ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than BMW vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 1 place higher in reliability than BMW.

The Q60’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 45 more horsepower (300 vs. 255) and 1 lbs.-ft. more torque (295 vs. 294) than the 430i Coupe’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The Q60 Red Sport 400’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 18 more horsepower (400 vs. 382) than the M440i Coupe’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid.

As tested in Car and Driver the Q60 Red Sport 400 is faster than the 430i Coupe 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder:

The Q60 has 4.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the 4 Series Coupe (20 vs. 15.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the Q60 Red Sport 400’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the 4 Series Coupe:

For better traction, the Q60 has larger standard tires than the 4 Series Coupe (255/40R19 vs. 225/45R18). The Q60 Red Sport 400’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the 4 Series Coupe (F:255/35R20 & R:275/30R20 vs. F:225/40R19 & R:255/35R19).

The Q60’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 4 Series Coupe’s standard 45 series tires. The Q60 Red Sport 400’s 255/35R20 front and 275/30R20 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the 4 Series Coupe’s optional 40 series front and 35 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Q60 has standard 19-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the 4 Series Coupe. The Q60 Red Sport 400’s 20-inch wheels are larger than the 19-inch wheels optional on the 4 Series Coupe.

The Q60 has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The 4 Series Coupe doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For better maneuverability, the Q60’s turning circle is .7 feet tighter than the 4 Series Coupe’s (36.7 feet vs. 37.4 feet). The Q60 AWD’s turning circle is 1.3 feet tighter than the 4 Series Coupe xDrive’s (38.1 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

The Q60 is 3.5 inches shorter than the 430i, making the Q60 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Q60 Luxe/Sport/Red Sport 400 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The 4 Series Coupe doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Q60 has 1.3 inches more front legroom and 1 inch more rear shoulder room than the 4 Series Coupe.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than BMW. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti third in service department satisfaction. With a 21% lower rating, BMW is ranked 8th.

The Q60’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. BMW does not offer a locking feature on the 4 Series Coupe’s power windows.
