Safety
Warranty
The I-Pace comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The 1’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.
Jaguar pays for scheduled maintenance on the I-Pace for 5 years and 60,000 miles. Jaguar will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Polestar doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the 1.
There are over 9 times as many Jaguar dealers as there are Polestar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the I-Pace’s warranty.
Fuel Economy and Range
On the EPA test cycle the I-Pace gets better mileage than the Polestar 1 running on electricity (80 city/72 hwy vs. 55 city/61 hwy MPGe).
The I-Pace’s maximum EPA estimated driving range is 222 miles on a full charge. The Polestar 1 can only travel about 52 miles before it has to start its internal combustion engine.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Jaguar I-Pace higher (10 out of 10) than the Polestar 1 (5). This means the I-Pace produces up to 19.8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Polestar 1 every 15,000 miles.

Tires and Wheels
For better ride, handling and brake cooling the I-Pace offers optional 22-inch wheels. The Polestar 1’s largest wheels are only 21-inches.
The I-Pace offers an optional space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the Polestar 1; it requires you to depend on roadside assistance and your vehicle will have to be towed.
Suspension and Handling
The front and rear suspension of the I-Pace uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the Polestar 1, which uses coil springs in front and torsion bars in the rear. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.
The I-Pace has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The I-Pace’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.
For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the I-Pace’s wheelbase is 9.7 inches longer than on the Polestar 1 (117.7 inches vs. 108 inches).
The I-Pace’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (50% to 50%) than the Polestar 1’s (47.6% to 52.4%). This gives the I-Pace more stable handling and braking.
Chassis
The Jaguar I-Pace may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 pounds less than the Polestar 1.
The front grille of the I-Pace uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.
Passenger Space
The I-Pace has 1.9 inches more front headroom, 1.3 inches more front shoulder room, 4.8 inches more rear headroom, 14.1 inches more rear legroom and 4.9 inches more rear shoulder room than the Polestar 1.
Cargo Capacity
The I-Pace’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer folding rear seats.
To make loading and unloading groceries and cargo easier, especially for short adults, the I-Pace has a standard power liftgate, which opens and closes automatically by pressing a button, or optionally by just kicking your foot under the back bumper, completely leaving your hands free. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer a power trunk, so its trunk has to be closed manually.
Towing
The I-Pace has a 1653 lbs. towing capacity. The Polestar 1 has no towing capacity.
Ergonomics
The I-Pace’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children in the rear seat from operating them, but the driver can still raise and lower all of them with the lock engaged. Polestar does not offer a locking feature on the Polestar 1’s standard power windows.
Heated windshield washer nozzles are optional on the I-Pace to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.
Both the I-Pace and the Polestar 1 have standard heated front seats. The I-Pace also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Polestar 1.
Standard air-conditioned seats in the I-Pace keep the driver and front passenger comfortable and take the sting out of hot seats in Summer. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats.
The I-Pace has a standard center folding armrest for the rear passengers. A center armrest helps make rear passengers more comfortable and it can provide a boundary between children. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer a rear seat center armrest.
To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jaguar I-Pace offers an optional wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
The I-Pace’s Park Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling speed with the brake pedal. The Polestar 1 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
