The RS Q8 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the RS Q8 helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The RS Q8 has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Range Rover Sport’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the RS Q8 has a standard rear cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Rear cross-path warning costs extra on the Range Rover Sport.

Both the RS Q8 and the Range Rover Sport have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems and rearview cameras.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its available headlight’s “Acceptable” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the RS Q8 the rating of “Top Pick” for 2021, a rating granted to only 128 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The Range Rover Sport has not been tested, yet.

The RS Q8’s corrosion warranty is 6 years longer than the Range Rover Sport’s (12 vs. 6 years).

The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 196 more horsepower (591 vs. 395) and 185 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 405) than the Range Rover Sport P400’s standard 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid. The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 73 more horsepower (591 vs. 518) and 129 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 461) than the Range Rover Sport’s optional 5.0 supercharged V8. The RS Q8’s 4.0 turbo V8 hybrid produces 16 more horsepower (591 vs. 575) and 74 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 516) than the Range Rover Sport SVR’s standard 5.0 supercharged V8.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the RS Q8’s fuel efficiency. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Both the RS Q8 and the Range Rover Sport have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stop lights and heavy traffic. All RS Q8s have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily. The Range Rover Sport P360/P400 doesn’t offer a way to disable start/stop.

The RS Q8’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer launch control.

For better stopping power the RS Q8’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Range Rover Sport:

The RS Q8 offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

For better traction, the RS Q8 has larger tires than the Range Rover Sport (295/40R22 vs. 235/65R19). The RS Q8’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Range Rover Sport (295/40R22 vs. 275/40R22).

The RS Q8’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Range Rover Sport’s standard 65 series tires. The RS Q8’s tires have a lower 35 series profile than the Range Rover Sport’s optional 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the RS Q8 has standard 22-inch wheels. Smaller 19-inch wheels are standard on the Range Rover Sport. The RS Q8’s 23-inch wheels are larger than the 22-inch wheels optional on the Range Rover Sport.

The RS Q8 offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Land Rover doesn’t offer an active suspension on the Range Rover Sport.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the RS Q8’s wheelbase is 2.8 inches longer than on the Range Rover Sport (117.9 inches vs. 115.1 inches).

The RS Q8 has 1.6 inches more front headroom, 1.7 inches more front legroom and 3.2 inches more rear legroom than the Range Rover Sport.

The RS Q8 has a much larger cargo volume than the Range Rover Sport with its rear seat up (30.5 vs. 10.8 cubic feet).

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Audi RS Q8 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The Range Rover Sport doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.
