The R8 has a standard Secondary Collision Brake Assist, which automatically applies the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The AMG C-Class Cabriolet doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

Both the R8 and the AMG C-Class Cabriolet have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The R8’s corrosion warranty is 7 years longer than the AMG C-Class Cabriolet’s (12 vs. 5 years).

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Audi vehicles are more reliable than Mercedes vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Audi 6 places higher in reliability than Mercedes.

The R8 has more powerful engines than the AMG C-Class Cabriolet:

The R8 Coupe’s standard fuel tank has 1.9 gallons more fuel capacity than the AMG C-Class Cabriolet (19.3 vs. 17.4 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The R8 Spyder’s standard fuel tank has 3.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the AMG C-Class Cabriolet (21.1 vs. 17.4 gallons).

The R8 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The AMG C-Class Cabriolet doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better stopping power the R8’s standard brake rotors are larger than those on the AMG C-Class Cabriolet:

For better traction, the R8 has larger tires than the AMG C-Class Cabriolet (F:245/30R20 & R:305/30R20 vs. F:225/45R18 & R:245/40R18).

The R8’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the AMG C 43 Cabriolet’s standard 45 series front and 40 series rear tires. The R8’s tires are lower profile than the AMG C 63 Cabriolet’s optional 35 series front tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the R8 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the AMG C 63 Cabriolet. The AMG C-Class Cabriolet’s largest wheels are only 19-inches in the front and 20-inches in the rear.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the R8 is 1 inch wider in the front and 1 inch wider in the rear than the average track on the AMG C-Class Cabriolet.

For better maneuverability, the R8’s turning circle is .4 feet tighter than the AMG C 63 Cabriolet’s (36.7 feet vs. 37.1 feet). The R8’s turning circle is 1.7 feet tighter than the AMG C 43 Cabriolet’s (36.7 feet vs. 38.4 feet).

The Audi R8 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 650 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG C-Class Cabriolet.

The R8 is 10.4 inches shorter than the AMG C 43 Cabriolet, making the R8 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The R8 has a standard under hood light to help in making nighttime maintenance checks, adding fluids, etc. The AMG C-Class Cabriolet doesn’t offer an under hood light.
