The NSX’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The 812 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Acura NSX has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The 812 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The NSX has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The 812 doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The NSX has standard AcuraLink, which uses a global positioning satellite (GPS) receiver and a cellular system to remotely unlock your doors if you lock your keys in, help track down your vehicle if it’s stolen or send emergency personnel to the scene if any airbags deploy. The 812 doesn’t offer a GPS response system, only a navigation computer with no live response for emergencies, so if you’re involved in an accident and you’re incapacitated help may not come as quickly.

Both the NSX and the 812 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and front and rear parking sensors.

The NSX comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The 812’s 3-year basic warranty expires 1 year sooner.

Acura’s powertrain warranty covers the NSX 3 years longer than Ferrari covers the 812. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the 812 ends after only 3 years.

The NSX’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the 812’s (5 vs. 3 years).

There are over 7 times as many Acura dealers as there are Ferrari dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the NSX’s warranty.

The 812’s redline is at 8900 to 9500 RPM, which causes more engine wear, and a greater chance of a catastrophic engine failure. The NSX has a 7500 RPM redline.

Regenerative brakes improve the NSX’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The 812 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

A nine-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Acura NSX, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the 812.

All wheel drive, available in the NSX, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Ferrari 812 is not available with all wheel drive.

The NSX stops much shorter than the 812:

The NSX’s 305/30R20 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 30 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the 812’s standard 35 series tires.

The NSX has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The 812 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For better maneuverability, the NSX’s turning circle is 1.4 feet tighter than the 812’s (39.7 feet vs. 41.1 feet).

The NSX is 4.8 inches shorter than the 812 Superfast, making the NSX easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The NSX uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The 812 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The NSX has 1.3 inches more front headroom and 2.2 inches more front shoulder room than the 812.

The NSX’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. Ferrari does not offer a locking feature on the 812’s standard power windows.

The NSX’s front power windows open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The 812’s front passenger window doesn’t close automatically.

The NSX’s standard power window controls are mounted on the armrest for easy access. The 812’s available power window controls are spread out on the center console where they can’t be seen without the driver completely removing his eyes from the road.

If the windows are left open on the NSX the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the 812 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Keyless Access System standard on the NSX allows you to unlock the driver’s door, trunk and start the engine all without removing a key from pocket or purse. This eliminates searching for keys before loading groceries, getting in the vehicle in bad weather or making a hurried start to your trip. The Ferrari 812’s Keyless Start doesn’t unlock the doors or the trunk.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the NSX detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The 812 doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.
