Compare the2022 Acura NSXVS 2022 Chevrolet Corvette

The NSX’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Corvette doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The Acura NSX has a standard driver’s side knee airbag mounted low on the dashboard. The knee airbag helps prevent the driver from sliding under the seatbelts or the main frontal airbag; this keeps the driver better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. A knee airbag also helps keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Corvette doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The NSX has all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Corvette doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

The NSX has standard Parking Sensors to help warn the driver about vehicles, pedestrians or other obstacles behind or in front of their vehicle. The Corvette doesn’t offer a front parking aid.

Both the NSX and the Corvette have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights and rearview cameras.

The NSX comes with a full 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Corvette’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 14,000 miles sooner.

Acura’s powertrain warranty covers the NSX 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Chevrolet covers the Corvette. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Corvette ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The NSX’s corrosion warranty is unlimited miles longer than the Corvette’s (unlimited vs. 100,000 miles).

For smoother operation, better efficiency and fewer moving parts, the NSX has an overhead cam design, rather than the old pushrod design of the engines in the Corvette.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Acura vehicles are more reliable than Chevrolet vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Acura 10th in reliability, above the industry average. With 7 more problems per 100 vehicles, Chevrolet is ranked 12th.

The NSX’s 3.5 turbo V6 hybrid produces 110 more horsepower (600 vs. 490) and 27 lbs.-ft. more torque (492 vs. 465) than the Corvette’s standard 6.2 V8. The NSX’s 3.5 turbo V6 hybrid produces 105 more horsepower (600 vs. 495) and 22 lbs.-ft. more torque (492 vs. 470) than the Corvette Z51’s standard 6.2 V8.

Regenerative brakes improve the NSX’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The Corvette doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stop lights the NSX’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. The Corvette doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

A nine-speed automatic (SMG) is standard on the Acura NSX, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the Corvette.

All wheel drive, available in the NSX, provides the best traction for acceleration in wet, dry, and icy conditions. In corners, all wheel drive allows both outside wheels to provide power, balancing the car. This allows for better handling. The Chevrolet Corvette is not available with all wheel drive.

For better stopping power the NSX’s brake rotors are larger than those on the Corvette:

The NSX offers optional heat-treated ceramic brake rotors, which last ten to twenty times as long as conventional cast iron rotors, don’t rust, don’t fade during repeated high speed braking, and their lighter weight contribute to better braking, handling and acceleration. The Corvette doesn’t offer ceramic brake rotors.

The NSX stops much shorter than the Corvette:

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the NSX is .6 inches wider in the front and 2.1 inches wider in the rear than on the Corvette.

The NSX’s front to rear weight distribution is more even (42% to 58%) than the Corvette’s (40% to 60%). This gives the NSX more stable handling and braking.

The NSX handles at 1.06 G’s, while the Corvette Coupe pulls only 1.03 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The NSX is 3.8 inches shorter than the Corvette, making the NSX easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

To almost totally eliminate engine vibration in the passenger area, the NSX has liquid-filled engine mounts. The liquid helps further dampen engine harshness. The Corvette uses conventional solid rubber engine mounts.

The NSX has .4 inches more front headroom, .1 inches more front legroom, 2.5 inches more front hip room and 3.3 inches more front shoulder room than the Corvette.

A low lift-over trunk design makes loading and unloading the NSX easier. The NSX’s trunk lift-over height is 35.2 inches, while the Corvette’s liftover is 38.7 inches.

With its coupe body style and remote trunk release lockout, the NSX offers cargo security. The Corvette’s non-lockable remote release defeats cargo security.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Acura service is better than Chevrolet. J.D. Power ranks Acura 6th in service department satisfaction (above the industry average). With a 16% lower rating, Chevrolet is ranked 19th.

The NSX’s standard power windows have a locking feature to keep children from operating them. Chevrolet does not offer a locking feature on the Corvette’s standard power windows.

If the windows are left open on the NSX the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Corvette can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The NSX’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The Corvette’s manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

While driving with high beams on, sensitive light sensors standard on the NSX detect other vehicles which could be blinded and automatically switch to low beams. The Corvette doesn’t offer automatic dimming high beams.

The NSX was chosen as one of Automobile Magazine’s “All Stars” in 2017. The Corvette has never been an “All Star.”
