The Corolla Hybrid was last qualified as a “Top Pick” in 2017.

The Accent comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Corolla Hybrid’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 2 years or 24,000 miles sooner.

Hyundai’s powertrain warranty covers the Accent 5 years and 40,000 miles longer than Toyota covers the Corolla Hybrid. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the Corolla Hybrid ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The Accent’s corrosion warranty is 2 years longer than the Corolla Hybrid’s (7 vs. 5 years).

Hyundai pays for scheduled maintenance on the Accent for 1 year and 11000 miles longer than Toyota pays for maintenance for the Corolla Hybrid (3/36,000 vs. 2/25000).

J.D. Power and Associates rated the Accent first among small cars in their 2021 Initial Quality Study. The Corolla Hybrid was rated second in its category.

The Accent offers a remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Corolla Hybrid doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) conducts detailed tests on headlights for their range both straight ahead and in curves and to be certain they don’t exceed acceptable amounts of glare to oncoming drivers. The Accent’s available headlights were rated “Acceptable” by the IIHS, while the Corolla Hybrid’s headlights are rated “Marginal.”
