Compare the2022 Chrysler 300VS 2022 Genesis G70

The 300 has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The G70 doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the 300 and the G70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

There are over 7 times as many Chrysler dealers as there are Genesis dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the 300’s warranty.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the 300 has a standard 160-amp alternator. The G70’s standard 150-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the 300’s reliability 36 points higher than the G70.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the 300 second among large cars in their 2021 Initial Quality Study. The G70 isn’t in the top three in its category.

The 300’s optional 5.7 V8 produces 18 lbs.-ft. more torque (394 vs. 376) than the G70 3.3T’s optional 3.3 turbo V6.

As tested in Consumer Reports the Chrysler 300 V6 is faster than the G70 2.0T 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the 300 V8’s fuel efficiency. The G70 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Chrysler 300 uses regular unleaded gasoline (mid-grade octane recommended with the 5.7 V8 engine for maximum performance). The G70 requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost 5 to 40 cents more per gallon.

The 300 has 2.7 gallons more fuel capacity than the G70 (18.5 vs. 15.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The 300 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The G70 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

In an emergency stopping situation, many drivers don’t press the brakes with enough force to stop the vehicle in the shortest distance. The 300 has a standard brake assist system to detect emergency braking situations (by how hard and how quickly the brake pedal is pressed) and then automatically apply maximum braking immediately in order to help prevent a collision. The G70 doesn’t offer a brake assist feature.

The 300 stops shorter than the G70:

For better traction, the 300’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the G70 (245/45R20 vs. 225/40R19).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the 300 offers optional 20-inch wheels. The G70’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The 300 has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The G70’s suspension doesn’t offer rear gas-charged shocks.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the 300’s wheelbase is 8.4 inches longer than on the G70 (120 inches vs. 111.6 inches).

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the 300 a Large car, while the G70 is rated a Compact.

The 300 has 10.4 cubic feet more passenger volume than the G70 (106.3 vs. 95.9).

The 300 has 3.2 inches more front shoulder room, 1 inch more rear headroom, 5.3 inches more rear legroom and 3.1 inches more rear shoulder room than the G70.

The 300 has a much larger trunk than the G70 (16.3 vs. 10.5 cubic feet).

The 300 has a 1000 lbs. towing capacity. The G70 has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Sway Mitigation on the 300 uses the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The G70 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

On a hot day the 300’s driver can lower the front windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the G70 can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The 300’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The G70’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the 300 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The G70 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

A power rear sunshade is optional in the 300 Touring L/S to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The G70 doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

Insurance will cost less for the 300 owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the 300 will cost $1375 less than the G70 over a five-year period.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Chrysler 300 will be $2998 to $5537 less than for the Genesis G70.
