Compare the2022 Chrysler 300VS 2022 Cadillac CT5

The 300 has standard Active Head Restraints, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Head Restraints system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The CT5 doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Both the 300 and the CT5 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does side impact tests on new vehicles. In this test, which crashes the vehicle into a flat barrier at 38.5 MPH and into a post at 20 MPH, results indicate that the Chrysler 300 is safer than the Cadillac CT5:

There are almost 3 times as many Chrysler dealers as there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the 300’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the 300’s reliability 35 points higher than the CT5.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Chrysler vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chrysler 2 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Chrysler 300 uses regular unleaded gasoline (mid-grade octane recommended with the 5.7 V8 engine for maximum performance). The CT5 requires premium, which can cost 5 to 40 cents more per gallon.

The 300 has a gallon more fuel capacity than the CT5 (18.5 vs. 17.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The 300 has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the CT5; it requires you to depend on its optional run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the 300’s wheelbase is 4 inches longer than on the CT5 (120 inches vs. 116 inches).

For better maneuverability, the 300’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the CT5’s (37.4 feet vs. 39 feet). The 300’s turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the CT5 AWD’s (37.4 feet vs. 40.7 feet).

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the 300 a Large car, while the CT5 is rated a Mid-size.

The 300 has 7.3 cubic feet more passenger volume than the CT5 (106.3 vs. 99).

The 300 has 2.5 inches more front hip room, 2.8 inches more front shoulder room, 1.3 inches more rear headroom, 2.2 inches more rear legroom, 2.4 inches more rear hip room and 2 inches more rear shoulder room than the CT5.

The 300 has a much larger trunk than the CT5 (16.3 vs. 11.9 cubic feet).

Standard Trailer Sway Mitigation on the 300 uses the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The CT5 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The 300 has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The CT5 doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the 300 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The CT5 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The CT5 Premium Luxury/Sport’s optional cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The 300 Touring L/S’ optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

A power rear sunshade is optional in the 300 Touring L/S to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The CT5 doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

Both the 300 and the CT5 offer available heated front seats. The 300 Touring L/S also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the CT5.

Insurance will cost less for the 300 owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the 300 will cost $1030 less than the CT5 over a five-year period.
