Compare the2022 Chrysler 300VS 2022 Cadillac CT4

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Chrysler 300 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Cadillac CT4 doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the 300 and the CT4 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

There are almost 3 times as many Chrysler dealers as there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the 300’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the 300’s reliability 43 points higher than the CT4.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the 300 second among large cars in their 2021 Initial Quality Study. The CT4 isn’t in the top three in its category.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Chrysler vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chrysler 2 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The 300 has more powerful engines than the CT4:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Chrysler 300 uses regular unleaded gasoline (mid-grade octane recommended with the 5.7 V8 engine for maximum performance). The CT4 requires premium, which can cost 5 to 40 cents more per gallon.

The 300 has 1.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the CT4 (18.5 vs. 17 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the 300’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the CT4 (245/45R20 vs. 235/40R18).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the 300 offers optional 20-inch wheels. The CT4’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The 300 has a standard space-saver spare tire so you can replace a flat tire and drive to have the flat repaired or replaced. A spare tire isn’t available on the CT4; it requires you to depend on its run-flat tires, which limits mileage and speed before they are repaired. If a run-flat is damaged beyond repair by a road hazard your vehicle will have to be towed. Some tire options on the CT4 don’t have a run-flat feature, either.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the 300’s wheelbase is 10.7 inches longer than on the CT4 (120 inches vs. 109.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the 300 is 3.1 inches wider in the front and 2.1 inches wider in the rear than on the CT4.

The 300S handles at .85 G’s, while the CT4 Premium Luxury AWD pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the 300 a Large car, while the CT4 is rated a Compact.

The 300 has 16.3 cubic feet more passenger volume than the CT4 (106.3 vs. 90).

The 300 has .3 inches more front headroom, 3.2 inches more front hip room, 4.3 inches more front shoulder room, 1.4 inches more rear headroom, 6.7 inches more rear legroom, 3.6 inches more rear hip room and 3.8 inches more rear shoulder room than the CT4.

The 300 has a much larger trunk than the CT4 (16.3 vs. 10.7 cubic feet).

Standard Trailer Sway Mitigation on the 300 uses the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The CT4 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

The 300 uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The CT4 uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The 300 has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The CT4 doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

The 300’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The CT4’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the 300 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The CT4 doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The CT4 Premium Luxury/Sport’s optional cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The 300 Touring L/S’ optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

A power rear sunshade is optional in the 300 Touring L/S to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The CT4 doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.

Both the 300 and the CT4 offer available heated front seats. The 300 Touring L/S also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the CT4.

Insurance will cost less for the 300 owner. The Complete Car Cost Guide estimates that insurance for the 300 will cost $805 less than the CT4 over a five-year period.
