For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Chrysler 300 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The BMW 7 Series doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the 300 and the 7 Series have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

Chrysler’s powertrain warranty covers the 300 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than BMW covers the 7 Series. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the 7 Series ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

There are almost 7 times as many Chrysler dealers as there are BMW dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the 300’s warranty.

The battery on the 300 is in the trunk, which protects it from hot underhood temperatures that can degrade battery life. By keeping the 300’s battery 20 to 30 degrees cooler, its life is increased by years. The 7 Series’ battery is in the hot engine compartment.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the 300’s reliability 22 points higher than the 7 Series.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the 300 second among large cars in their 2021 Initial Quality Study. The 7 Series isn’t in the top three in its category.

On the EPA test cycle the 300 gets better mileage than the 7 Series running its gasoline engine:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the 300 V8’s fuel efficiency. The 7 Series doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Chrysler 300 uses regular unleaded gasoline (mid-grade octane recommended with the 5.7 V8 engine for maximum performance). The 7 Series requires premium, which can cost 5 to 40 cents more per gallon.

The 300 has 6.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the 7 Series Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (18.5 vs. 12.1 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The 300 has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The 7 Series doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The 300 stops shorter than the 7 Series:

The 300S handles at .85 G’s, while the 745e xDrive pulls only .84 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the 300’s turning circle is 4.6 feet tighter than the 740i’s (37.4 feet vs. 42 feet). The 300’s turning circle is 5 feet tighter than the 7 Series xDrive’s (37.4 feet vs. 42.4 feet).

The Chrysler 300 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 250 to 800 pounds less than the BMW 7 Series.

The 300 is 8.1 inches shorter than the Alpina B7, making the 300 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces. The 300 is 8.8 inches shorter than the 7 Series.

The 300 has .4 inches more front legroom and .3 inches more front shoulder room than the 7 Series.

The 300 has a much larger trunk than the 7 Series (16.3 vs. 14 cubic feet).

The 300’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The 7 Series doesn’t offer folding rear seats, only a ski pass-through.

The 300 has a 1000 lbs. towing capacity. The 7 Series has no towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Sway Mitigation on the 300 uses the Electronic Stability Control sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The 7 Series doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the 300 to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The 7 Series doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the 300 is less expensive to operate than the 7 Series because it costs $628 less to do the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance for 50,000 miles. Typical repairs cost much less on the 300 than the 7 Series, including $490 less for a water pump, $110 less for front brake pads, $520 less for a starter, $391 less for fuel injection, $162 less for a fuel pump, $1225 less for front struts, $643 less for a timing belt/chain and $759 less for a power steering pump.
