There are over 6 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Mercedes dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Charger SRT’s warranty.

The Dodge Charger SRT’s engines use a cast iron block for durability, while the AMG S-Class’ engines use an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are better in initial quality than Mercedes vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 54 more problems per 100 vehicles, Mercedes is ranked 25th, below the industry average.

The Charger SRT’s standard 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 114 more horsepower (717 vs. 603) than the AMG S 63 Sedan’s standard 4.0 turbo V8. The Charger SRT’s 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 96 more horsepower (717 vs. 621) than the AMG S 65 Sedan’s standard 6.0 turbo V12. The Charger SRT Redeye’s standard 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 176 more horsepower (797 vs. 621) than the AMG S 65 Sedan’s standard 6.0 turbo V12.

The Charger SRT has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Charger SRT is 1.1 inches wider in the front and .6 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the AMG S-Class.

The Dodge Charger SRT may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 200 to 400 pounds less than the Mercedes AMG S-Class.

The Charger SRT is 7.5 inches shorter than the AMG S-Class, making the Charger SRT easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Charger SRT has .4 inches more front legroom and 6 inches more rear legroom than the AMG S-Class.

The Charger SRT’s standard rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

The Charger SRT’s instruments include an oil pressure gauge and a temperature gauge - which could save your engine! Often ‘idiot lights’ don’t warn you until damage has been done. The AMG S-Class does not have an oil pressure gauge.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Charger SRT has standard extendable sun visors. The AMG S-Class doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Charger SRT has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the AMG S-Class.
