Compare the2022 Dodge Charger SRTVS 2022 Cadillac CT4-V

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Dodge Charger SRT are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Cadillac CT4-V doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the Charger SRT and the CT4-V have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Dodge Charger SRT weighs 691 to 978 pounds more than the Cadillac CT4-V. The NHTSA advises that heavier cars are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

There are almost 3 times as many Dodge dealers as there are Cadillac dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Charger SRT’s warranty.

The Dodge Charger SRT’s engines use a cast iron block for durability, while the CT4-V’s engines use an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Dodge vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Dodge second in initial quality, above the industry average. With 34 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is ranked 22nd, below the industry average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Dodge vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Dodge 11 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The Charger SRT’s standard 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 392 more horsepower (717 vs. 325) and 270 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 380) than the CT4-V’s standard 2.7 turbo 4-cylinder. The Charger SRT’s 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 245 more horsepower (717 vs. 472) and 205 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 445) than the CT4-V Blackwing’s standard 3.6 turbo V6. The Charger SRT Redeye’s standard 6.2 supercharged V8 produces 325 more horsepower (797 vs. 472) and 262 lbs.-ft. more torque (707 vs. 445) than the CT4-V Blackwing’s standard 3.6 turbo V6.

As tested in Motor Trend the Dodge Charger SRT (702 HP engine) is faster than the Cadillac CT4-V turbo 4 cyl. (automatics tested):

The Charger SRT has 1.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the CT4-V (18.5 vs. 17 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better traction, the Charger SRT has larger tires than the CT4-V (305/35R20 vs. 235/40R18). The Charger SRT’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the CT4-V (305/35R20 vs. 235/35R18).

The Charger SRT’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 35 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the CT4-V’s standard 40 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Charger SRT has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the CT4-V. The CT4-V’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Charger SRT’s wheelbase is 11.1 inches longer than on the CT4-V (120.4 inches vs. 109.3 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Charger SRT is 5.2 inches wider in the front and 4.2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the CT4-V.

The Charger SRT Hellcat handles at .94 G’s, while the CT4-V AWD pulls only .87 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The Charger SRT Hellcat executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver 1 seconds quicker than the CT4-V (24.4 seconds @ .82 average G’s vs. 25.4 seconds @ .73 average G’s).

Because it has more passenger and cargo room, the EPA rates the Charger SRT a Large car, while the CT4-V is rated a Compact.

The Charger SRT has 14.7 cubic feet more passenger volume than the CT4-V (104.7 vs. 90).

The Charger SRT has .3 inches more front headroom, 3.2 inches more front hip room, 4.3 inches more front shoulder room, .1 inches more rear headroom, 6.7 inches more rear legroom, 3.6 inches more rear hip room and 4 inches more rear shoulder room than the CT4-V.

The Charger SRT has a much larger trunk than the CT4-V (16.5 vs. 10.7 cubic feet).

The Charger SRT has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The CT4-V doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

Heated windshield washer nozzles are standard on the Charger SRT to prevent washer fluid and nozzles from freezing and help continue to keep the windshield clear in sub-freezing temperatures. The CT4-V doesn’t offer heated windshield washer nozzles.

The Charger SRT has standard heated front seats. Heated front seats cost extra on the CT4-V. The Charger SRT also has standard heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the CT4-V.

The Charger SRT has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the car heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the CT4-V.
