J.D. Power and Associates rated the Tahoe second among large suvs in their 2021 Initial Quality Study. The Escalade isn’t in the top three in its category.

Power ranks Chevrolet 10th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 22 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is ranked 22nd, below the industry average.
From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 4 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.
Suspension and Handling
The Tahoe LT 4x4 handles at .68 G’s, while the Escalade Sport 4WD pulls only .60 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.
The Tahoe LT 4x4 executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the Escalade Sport 4WD (29.4 seconds @ .54 average G’s vs. 30.1 seconds @ .53 average G’s).
For better maneuverability, the Tahoe’s turning circle is 1.6 feet tighter than the Escalade’s (38.1 feet vs. 39.7 feet).
Passenger Space
The Tahoe offers optional seating for 9 passengers; the Escalade can only carry up to 8.
