Compare the2022 Honda CR-VVS 2022 Jaguar E-Pace

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Honda CR-V are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar E-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

Both the CR-V and the E-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available all wheel drive, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

For its top level performance in IIHS driver and passenger-side small overlap frontal, moderate overlap frontal, side impact, roof strength and head restraint tests, its standard vehicle-to-vehicle front crash prevention system, its standard vehicle-to-pedestrian front crash prevention system, and its available headlight’s “Good” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the CR-V the rating of “Top Pick” for 2021, a rating granted to only 128 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The E-Pace has not been tested, yet.

There are almost 6 times as many Honda dealers as there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the CR-V’s warranty.

A reliable vehicle saves its owner time, money and trouble. Nobody wants to be stranded or have to be without a vehicle while it’s being repaired. Consumer Reports rates the CR-V’s reliability 46 points higher than the E-Pace.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Honda vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Honda 17th in initial quality. With 1 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 19th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Honda vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Honda 27th in reliability. With 41 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 31st.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Honda CR-V uses regular unleaded gasoline. The E-Pace requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The CR-V has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

The CR-V has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a CVT.

The CR-V Touring handles at .85 G’s, while the E-Pace SE pulls only .83 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

The CR-V EX-L AWD executes Motor Trend’s “Figure Eight” maneuver quicker than the E-Pace SE (27.5 seconds @ .61 average G’s vs. 28.4 seconds @ .6 average G’s).

For better maneuverability, the CR-V’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the E-Pace’s (37.4 feet vs. 38.2 feet).

For greater off-road capability the CR-V has a greater minimum ground clearance than the E-Pace (8.2 vs. 8 inches), allowing the CR-V to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Honda CR-V may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 550 to 600 pounds less than the Jaguar E-Pace.

The CR-V is 5.1 inches narrower than the E-Pace, making the CR-V easier to handle and maneuver in traffic.

The front grille of the CR-V uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The E-Pace doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The CR-V uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The E-Pace doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The CR-V has 1.7 inches more front headroom, .7 inches more front legroom, 1.8 inches more front shoulder room, .9 inches more rear headroom and 6.1 inches more rear legroom than the E-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the CR-V’s rear seats recline. The E-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The CR-V has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the E-Pace with its rear seat up (39.2 vs. 22.4 cubic feet). The CR-V has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the E-Pace with its rear seat folded (75.8 vs. 49.5 cubic feet).

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the CR-V’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The E-Pace doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

If the windows are left open on the CR-V the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the E-Pace can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The CR-V has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

Consumer Reports rated the CR-V’s headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the E-Pace’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the CR-V has standard extendable sun visors. The E-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The CR-V is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
