Compare the2022 BMW X7VS 2022 Infiniti QX60

The X7 has standard Post-Crash Braking, which automatically apply the brakes in the event of a crash to help prevent secondary collisions and prevent further injuries. The QX60 doesn’t offer a post collision braking system: in the event of a collision that triggers the airbags, more collisions are possible without the protection of airbags that may have already deployed.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the X7. But it costs extra on the QX60.

Both the X7 and the QX60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning and available around view monitors.

The X7’s corrosion warranty is 5 years longer than the QX60’s (12 vs. 7 years).

BMW pays for scheduled maintenance on the X7 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. BMW will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Infiniti doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the QX60.

There are over 71 percent more BMW dealers than there are Infiniti dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the X7’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates rated the X7 third among large premium suvs in their 2020 Initial Quality Study. The QX60 isn’t in the top three in its category.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that BMW vehicles are more reliable than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks BMW 10th in reliability, above the industry average. With 29 more problems per 100 vehicles, Infiniti is ranked 23rd.

The X7 xDrive40i’s standard 3.0 turbo 6-cylinder hybrid produces 40 more horsepower (335 vs. 295) and 61 lbs.-ft. more torque (331 vs. 270) than the QX60’s 3.5 DOHC V6. The X7 M50i’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 228 more horsepower (523 vs. 295) and 283 lbs.-ft. more torque (553 vs. 270) than the QX60’s 3.5 DOHC V6. The Alpina XB7’s standard 4.4 turbo V8 produces 317 more horsepower (612 vs. 295) and 320 lbs.-ft. more torque (590 vs. 270) than the QX60’s 3.5 DOHC V6.

Regenerative brakes improve the X7’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The QX60 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

Both the X7 and the QX60 have a standard automatic start/stop engine feature to stop unnecessary fuel waste and pollution at stop lights and heavy traffic. All X7s have a standard disable switch for the system, so a driver can keep the engine from shutting off when the vehicle stops temporarily.

The X7’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The QX60 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the X7 has larger standard tires than the QX60 (F:275/40R22 & R:315/35R22 vs. 255/50R20). The Alpina XB7’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the QX60 (F:285/35R23 & R:325/30R23 vs. 255/50R20).

The X7’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the QX60’s standard 60 series tires. The Alpina XB7’s optional 285/35R23 front and 325/30R23 rear tires have a lower 35 series front and 30 series rear profile than the QX60 Luxe/Sensory/Autograph’s 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the X7 has standard 21-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the QX60. The Alpina XB7’s optional 23-inch wheels are larger than the 20-inch wheels on the QX60 Luxe/Sensory/Autograph.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the X7 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The QX60 doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The X7 Alpina has active sway bars, which help keep it flat and controlled during cornering, but disconnect at lower speeds to smooth the ride and offer greater off-road suspension articulation. This helps keep the tires glued to the road on-road and off. The QX60 doesn’t offer an active sway bar system.

The front and rear suspension of the X7 uses air springs for a smoother, controlled ride than the QX60, which uses coil springs. Air springs maintain proper ride height and ride more smoothly.

The Alpina XB7 offers an available adjustable active suspension system, which counteracts cornering forces actively, limiting body roll and improving handling and stability. Infiniti doesn’t offer an active suspension on the QX60.

The X7 has a standard driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads or off-road. The QX60’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The X7 has a standard automatic front and rear load leveling suspension to keep ride height level with a heavy load or when towing. The X7’s height leveling suspension allows the driver to raise ride height for better off-road clearance and then lower it again for easier entering and exiting and better on-road handling. The QX60 doesn’t offer a load leveling suspension.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the X7’s wheelbase is 8 inches longer than on the QX60 (122.2 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

For greater off-road capability the X7 has a 2 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the QX60 (8.7 vs. 6.7 inches), allowing the X7 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The front grille of the X7 uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The QX60 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The X7 has 1.1 inches more front headroom, 2.4 inches more rear headroom, .9 inches more third row headroom and 5.3 inches more third row legroom than the QX60.

The X7’s cargo area provides more volume than the QX60.

Pressing a button automatically lowers or raises the X7’s second and third row seats, to make changing between cargo and passengers easier. The QX60 doesn’t offer automatic folding second row seats.

The X7’s rear cargo window opens separately from the rest of the tailgate door to allow quicker loading of small packages. The QX60’s rear cargo window doesn’t open.

The engine in the X7 is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the QX60. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because there are no rear spark plugs and the accessory belts are in front.

The power windows standard on both the X7 and the QX60 have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the X7 is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The QX60 prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the X7 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The QX60 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The X7 has standard heated front and optional heated second and third row seats, which keep the driver and passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Infiniti doesn’t offer heated seats in the third row of the QX60.

The X7’s optional Parking Assistant Plus can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The QX60 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
