The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The V60 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Range Rover Evoque. But it costs extra on the V60.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Range Rover Evoque’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The V60 doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

Both the Range Rover Evoque and the V60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, driver alert monitors, available blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (269 vs. 258) than the V60 T5’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover Evoque’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Volvo only offers a regenerative brake system on the V60 T8.

The Range Rover Evoque has 1.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the V60 (17.7 vs. 15.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque higher (7 out of 10) than the Volvo V60 (5 to 7). This means the Range Rover Evoque produces up to 8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the V60 every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the V60.

For better traction, the Range Rover Evoque’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the V60 (245/45R21 vs. 235/45R18).

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Range Rover Evoque offers optional 21-inch wheels. The V60’s largest wheels are only 19-inches.

The Range Rover Evoque has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The V60’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover Evoque uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the V60, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Range Rover Evoque is 1 inch wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the V60.

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Evoque has a 2.9 inches greater minimum ground clearance than the V60 (8.3 vs. 5.4 inches), allowing the Range Rover Evoque to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The Range Rover Evoque is 1 foot, 3.3 inches shorter than the V60, making the Range Rover Evoque easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Range Rover Evoque has .5 inches more front headroom, .5 inches more front shoulder room, .3 inches more rear headroom and .9 inches more rear shoulder room than the V60.

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the V60’s (3968 vs. 2000 pounds).

Unlike the driver-only memory seat and mirrors in the V60, the Range Rover Evoque offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Range Rover Evoque’s optional easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The V60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The V60 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

Insurance will cost less for the Range Rover Evoque owner. The Car Book by Jack Gillis rates the Range Rover Evoque with a number “3” insurance rate while the V60 is rated higher at a number “10” rate.

The Range Rover Evoque will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Range Rover Evoque will retain 48.01% to 48.13% of its original price after five years, while the V60 only retains 37.51% to 39.2%.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Range Rover Evoque is less expensive to operate than the V60 because it costs $263 less to do the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance for 50,000 miles. Typical repairs cost less on the Range Rover Evoque than the V60, including $197 less for a water pump, $155 less for a fuel pump and $72 less for a power steering pump.
