The Range Rover Evoque has 3.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the Q5 Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (17.7 vs. 14.3 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque higher (7 out of 10) than the Audi Q5 (5 to 7). This means the Range Rover Evoque produces up to 8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the Q5 every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the Q5.

The Range Rover Evoque R-Dynamic HST handles at .83 G’s, while the Q5 45 TFSI Premium Plus pulls only .81 G’s of cornering force in a Car and Driver skidpad test.

For better maneuverability, the Range Rover Evoque’s turning circle is .4 feet tighter than the Q5 45 TFSI’s (38 feet vs. 38.4 feet). The Range Rover Evoque’s turning circle is 1.4 feet tighter than the Q5 55 TFSI e’s (38 feet vs. 39.4 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Range Rover Evoque has a greater minimum ground clearance than the Q5 55 TFSI e (8.3 vs. 8 inches), allowing the Range Rover Evoque to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged. The Range Rover Evoque’s minimum ground clearance is .1 inch higher than on the Q5 45 TFSI (8.3 vs. 8.2 inches).

The Range Rover Evoque is 11.5 inches shorter than the Q5, making the Range Rover Evoque easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Range Rover Evoque has a standard remote vehicle starting system, so the vehicle can be started from inside the driver's house. This allows the driver to comfortably warm up the engine before going out to the vehicle. The climate system will also automatically heat or cool the interior. The Q5 doesn’t offer a remote starting system.

Unlike the driver-only memory system optional in the Q5, the Range Rover Evoque offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Range Rover Evoque has a standard rear fixed intermittent wiper with a full on position. The rear wiper standard on the Q5 only has an intermittent setting, so in a hard rain visibility isn’t as good.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the Q5.

Insurance will cost less for the Range Rover Evoque owner. The Car Book by Jack Gillis rates the Range Rover Evoque with a number “3” insurance rate while the Q5 is rated higher at a number “5” rate.

The Range Rover Evoque will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the Range Rover Evoque will retain 48.01% to 48.13% of its original price after five years, while the Q5 only retains 44.88% to 46.43%.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Range Rover Evoque is less expensive to operate than the Q5 because it costs $118 less to do the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance for 50,000 miles. Typical repairs cost much less on the Range Rover Evoque than the Q5, including $415 less for a water pump, $189 less for a muffler, $163 less for a starter, $171 less for a timing belt/chain and $132 less for a power steering pump.
