The Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. The XC60 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the Range Rover Evoque. But it costs extra on the XC60.

Regardless of its engine, regenerative brakes improve the Range Rover Evoque’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. Volvo only offers a regenerative brake system on the XC60 T8.

In its Green Vehicle Guide, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque higher (7 out of 10) than the Volvo XC60 (5 to 7). This means the Range Rover Evoque produces up to 8 pounds less smog-producing pollutants than the XC60 every 15,000 miles.

A nine-speed automatic is standard on the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only an eight-speed automatic is available for the XC60.

The Range Rover Evoque has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The XC60’s suspension doesn’t offer gas-charged shocks.

The front and rear suspension of the Range Rover Evoque uses coil springs for better ride, handling and control than the XC60, which uses transverse leafs springs in the rear. Coil springs compress more progressively and offer more suspension travel for a smoother ride with less bottoming out.

The Range Rover Evoque is 1 foot shorter than the XC60, making the Range Rover Evoque easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Range Rover Evoque has a larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the XC60 with its rear seat folded (50.5 vs. 49.8 cubic feet).

The Range Rover Evoque’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the XC60’s (3968 vs. 3500 pounds).

The Range Rover Evoque’s optional easy entry system raises the steering wheel and glides the driver’s seat back when the door is unlocked or the ignition is switched off, making it easier for the driver to get in and out. The XC60 doesn’t offer an easy entry system.

The Range Rover Evoque’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The XC60’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to open or close them fully.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Land Rover Range Rover Evoque has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the XC60.

Insurance will cost less for the Range Rover Evoque owner. The Car Book by Jack Gillis rates the Range Rover Evoque with a number “3” insurance rate while the XC60 is rated higher at a number “10” rate.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the Range Rover Evoque is less expensive to operate than the XC60 because it costs $54 less to do the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance for 50,000 miles. Typical repairs cost less on the Range Rover Evoque than the XC60, including $197 less for a water pump, $24 less for a starter, $170 less for a fuel pump and $119 less for a power steering pump.
