The GV70’s pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The XT4 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The GV70 has a standard front seat center airbag, which deploys between the driver and front passenger, protecting them from injuries caused by striking each other in serious side impacts. The XT4 doesn’t offer front seat center airbags.

Using vehicle speed sensors and seat sensors, smart airbags in the GV70 deploy with different levels of force or don’t deploy at all to help better protect passengers of all sizes in different collisions. The GV70’s side airbags will shut off if a child is leaning against the door. The XT4’s airbags don’t have smart features and will always deploy full force.

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the GV70. But it costs extra on the XT4.

The GV70’s standard lane departure warning system alerts a temporarily inattentive driver when the vehicle begins to leave its lane and gently nudges the vehicle back towards its lane. A lane departure warning system costs extra on the XT4.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the GV70 has a standard cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Only the XT4 Premium Luxury/Sport has a cross-path warning system.

The GV70’s driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The XT4 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the GV70 and the XT4 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras and available around view monitors.

The GV70 comes with a full 5-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes free 24-hour roadside assistance. The XT4’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year or 10,000 miles sooner.

Genesis’ powertrain warranty covers the GV70 4 years and 30,000 miles longer than Cadillac covers the XT4. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 10 years or 100,000 miles. Coverage on the XT4 ends after only 6 years or 70,000 miles.

The GV70’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the XT4’s (7 vs. 6 years).

Genesis pays for scheduled maintenance on the GV70 for 3 years and 36,000 miles. Genesis will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Cadillac only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the XT4.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2020 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Genesis vehicles are better in initial quality than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Genesis fifth in initial quality, above the industry average. With 20 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is ranked 14th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ January 2021 Auto Issue reports that Genesis vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Genesis 16 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The GV70’s standard 2.5 turbo 4-cylinder produces 65 more horsepower (300 vs. 235) and 53 lbs.-ft. more torque (311 vs. 258) than the XT4’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder. The GV70’s optional 3.5 turbo V6 produces 140 more horsepower (375 vs. 235) and 133 lbs.-ft. more torque (391 vs. 258) than the XT4’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

The GV70 has 1.5 gallons more fuel capacity than the XT4 FWD’s standard fuel tank (17.4 vs. 15.9 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The GV70 has 1.1 gallons more fuel capacity than the XT4 AWD’s standard fuel tank (17.4 vs. 16.3 gallons).

The GV70’s launch control uses engine electronics to hold engine RPM’s precisely in order to provide the most stable and rapid acceleration possible, using all of the available traction. The XT4 doesn’t offer launch control.

For better traction, the GV70 Sport Prestige’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the XT4 (255/40R21 vs. 245/45R20).

The GV70 Sport Prestige’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the XT4 Premium Luxury/Sport’s optional 45 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the GV70 Sport Prestige offers optional 21-inch wheels. The XT4’s largest wheels are only 20-inches.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the GV70’s wheelbase is 3.8 inches longer than on the XT4 (113.2 inches vs. 109.4 inches).

For better handling and stability, the average track (width between the wheels) on the GV70 is 1.6 inches wider in the front and 2.4 inches wider in the rear than the track on the XT4.

For greater off-road capability the GV70 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the XT4 (7.3 vs. 6.7 inches), allowing the GV70 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The GV70 has .2 inches more front headroom, 2.1 inches more front shoulder room, .8 inches more rear headroom and 1.8 inches more rear shoulder room than the XT4.

The GV70 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the XT4 with its rear seat up (28.9 vs. 22.5 cubic feet). The GV70 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the XT4 with its rear seat folded (56.9 vs. 48.9 cubic feet).

The GV70’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the XT4’s (3500 vs. 2500 pounds).

The engine in the GV70 is mounted longitudinally (North-South), instead of sideways, as in the XT4. This makes it easier to service and maintain, because the accessory belts are in front.

The GV70’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The XT4’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

The GV70’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The XT4 Luxury’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the GV70 to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The XT4 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Genesis GV70 has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. Wireless charging costs extra on the XT4.

The GV70 Advanced/Sport/3.5T has a 115-volt a/c outlet, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The XT4 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

The GV70 Advanced/Sport Prestige’s Smart Parking Assist can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. Remote Smart Parking Assist will park and retrieve your car remotely: press a button and watch it park itself. This is ideal for tight locations. The XT4 Premium Luxury/Sport’s automatic parking system does not offer parking by remote control.
