In the past twenty years hundreds of infants and young children have died after being left in vehicles, usually by accident. When turning the vehicle off, drivers of the Wagoneer are reminded to check the back seat if they opened the rear door before starting out. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a back seat reminder.

The Jeep Wagoneer has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Range Rover doesn’t offer knee airbags.

The Wagoneer has standard Active Headrests, which use a specially designed headrest to protect the driver and front passenger from whiplash. During a rear-end collision, the Active Headrests system moves the headrests forward to prevent neck and spine injuries. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a whiplash protection system.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The Wagoneer has standard Park Assist with Rear Stop that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The Range Rover doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Grand Wagoneer helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Wagoneer has a standard blind spot warning system that uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the Range Rover’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the Wagoneer has a standard cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Cross-path warning costs extra on the Range Rover.

Both the Wagoneer and the Range Rover have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

Jeep’s powertrain warranty covers the Wagoneer 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Land Rover covers the Range Rover. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 5 years or 60,000 miles. Coverage on the Range Rover ends after only 4 years or 50,000 miles.

Jeep pays for scheduled maintenance on the Wagoneer for 5 years and unlimited miles. Jeep will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Land Rover only pays for the first scheduled maintenance visit on the Range Rover.

There are almost 13 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Land Rover dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Wagoneer’s warranty.

The Jeep Wagoneer’s engines use a cast iron block for durability, while the Range Rover’s 3.0 turbo/supercharged 6-cylinder hybrid, 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder hybrid and 5.0 supercharged V8 engine uses an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Wagoneer has a standard 240-amp alternator. The Range Rover’s 150-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2020 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Land Rover vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jeep 11th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 73 more problems per 100 vehicles, Land Rover is ranked 33rd, below the industry average.

J.D. Power ranks Jeep 24th in reliability. With 103 more problems per 100 vehicles, Land Rover is ranked 33rd.

The Wagoneer has more powerful engines than the Range Rover:

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Wagoneer (except Grand Wagoneer)’s fuel efficiency. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

The Wagoneer has 3.8 gallons more fuel capacity than the Range Rover Diesel’s standard fuel tank (26.5 vs. 22.7 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The Wagoneer has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

For better traction, the Wagoneer has larger standard tires than the Range Rover (275/55R20 vs. 235/65R19). The Wagoneer’s optional tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Range Rover (285/45R22 vs. 275/45R21).

The Jeep Wagoneer’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Land Rover Range Rover only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Wagoneer has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The Range Rover doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Wagoneer’s wheelbase is 8 inches longer than on the Range Rover (123 inches vs. 115 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Wagoneer is 1.9 inches wider in the front and 2 inches wider in the rear than the average track on the Range Rover.

To help drivers avoid possible obstacles, the Wagoneer offers optional cornering lights to illuminate around corners when the turn signals are activated. The Range Rover doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the Wagoneer has standard extendable sun visors. The Range Rover doesn’t offer extendable visors.

The Wagoneer has a standard heated steering wheel to take the chill out of steering on extremely cold winter days before the vehicle heater warms up. A heated steering wheel costs extra on the Range Rover.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jeep Wagoneer has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The Range Rover doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Wagoneer’s optional ParkSense Automated Parking can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling the transmission and speed with the brake pedal. With its available fully controlled system, the driver just activates it and it parks autonomously, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The Range Rover’s automatic parking system requires operating the brakes and transmission to safely park.

The Wagoneer is available in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Range Rover doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
