The Jeep Wagoneer has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The QX80 doesn’t offer knee airbags.

When descending a steep, off-road slope, the Wagoneer’s standard Hill Descent Control allows you to creep down safely. The QX80 doesn’t offer Hill Descent Control.

A passive infrared night vision system optional on the Grand Wagoneer helps the driver to more easily detect people, animals or other objects in front of the vehicle at night. Using an infrared camera to detect heat, the system then displays the image on a monitor in the dashboard. The QX80 doesn’t offer a night vision system.

The Wagoneer’s optional driver alert monitor detects an inattentive driver then sounds a warning and suggests a break. According to the NHTSA, drivers who fall asleep cause about 100,000 crashes and 1500 deaths a year. The QX80 doesn’t offer a driver alert monitor.

Both the Wagoneer and the QX80 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available all wheel drive and around view monitors.

Jeep pays for scheduled maintenance on the Wagoneer for 5 years and unlimited miles. Jeep will pay for oil changes, lubrication and any other required maintenance. Infiniti doesn’t pay scheduled maintenance for the QX80.

There are almost 12 times as many Jeep dealers as there are Infiniti dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Wagoneer’s warranty.

The Jeep Wagoneer’s engines use a cast iron block for durability, while the QX80’s engine uses an aluminum block. Aluminum engine blocks are much more prone to warp and crack at high temperatures than cast iron.

To reliably power the ignition and other systems and to recharge the battery, the Wagoneer has a standard 240-amp alternator. The QX80’s 150-amp alternator isn’t as powerful.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2020 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Jeep vehicles are better in initial quality than Infiniti vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Jeep 11th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 18 more problems per 100 vehicles, Infiniti is ranked 15th, below the industry average.

The Grand Wagoneer’s standard 6.4 V8 produces 71 more horsepower (471 vs. 400) and 42 lbs.-ft. more torque (455 vs. 413) than the QX80’s 5.6 DOHC V8.

An engine control system that can shut down some of the engine’s cylinders helps improve the Wagoneer (except Grand Wagoneer)’s fuel efficiency. The QX80 doesn’t offer a system that can shut down part of the engine.

Regenerative brakes improve the Wagoneer (except Grand Wagoneer)’s fuel efficiency by converting inertia back into energy instead of wasting it. The QX80 doesn’t offer a regenerative braking system.

In heavy traffic or at stoplights the Wagoneer’s engine automatically turns off when the vehicle is stopped, saving fuel and reducing pollution. The engine is automatically restarted when the driver gets ready to move again. If the conditions warrant or the driver wishes, the system can be disabled at the start of a trip. The QX80 doesn’t offer an automatic engine start/stop system.

The Wagoneer has a standard cap-less fueling system. The fuel filler is automatically opened when the fuel nozzle is inserted and automatically closed when it’s removed. This eliminates the need to unscrew and replace the cap and it reduces fuel evaporation, which causes pollution. The QX80 doesn’t offer a cap-less fueling system.

An eight-speed automatic is standard on the Jeep Wagoneer, for better acceleration and lower engine speed on the highway. Only a seven-speed automatic is available for the QX80.

The Wagoneer’s optional tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the QX80 Premium Select/Sensory’s 50 series tires.

The Wagoneer has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The QX80 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Wagoneer’s wheelbase is 1.9 inches longer than on the QX80 (123 inches vs. 121.1 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Wagoneer’s turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the QX80’s (38 feet vs. 41.3 feet).

For greater off-road capability the Wagoneer Air Suspension has a greater minimum ground clearance than the QX80 (10 vs. 9.2 inches), allowing the Wagoneer to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The front grille of the Wagoneer uses electronically controlled shutters to close off airflow and reduce drag when less engine cooling is needed. This helps improve highway fuel economy. The QX80 doesn’t offer active grille shutters.

The Wagoneer uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The QX80 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The Wagoneer has 26.7 cubic feet more passenger volume than the QX80 (179.2 vs. 152.5).

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Wagoneer easier. The Wagoneer’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 34 inches, while the QX80’s liftover is 35.8 inches.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Wagoneer’s liftgate can be opened and closed just by kicking your foot under the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The QX80 doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its liftgate, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Wagoneer offers a maximum 10,000-pound towing capacity; the QX80’s maximum is only 8500 pounds.

The Wagoneer 4WD with optional equipment can be flat towed on all four wheels (dinghy towed), allowing recreational vehicle owners to bring it with them on the road. When they reach their destination, the Wagoneer can be unhitched and driven around locally. The QX80 can’t be towed flat on the ground.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the QX80, the Grand Wagoneer has a passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position, foot pedal distance, outside mirror angle and radio stations and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

The Wagoneer offers an optional heads-up display that projects speed and navigation instruction readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The QX80 doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Wagoneer’s power parking brake sets with one touch and releases with one touch or automatically. The QX80’s parking brake has to released manually.

The power windows standard on both the Wagoneer and the QX80 have locks to prevent small children from operating them. When the lock on the Wagoneer is engaged the driver can still operate all of the windows, for instance to close one opened by a child. The QX80 prevents the driver from operating the other windows just as it does the other passengers.

Manual rear side window sunshades are available in the Wagoneer to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The QX80 doesn’t offer rear side window sunshades.

The Wagoneer has standard front air conditioned seats and the Grand Wagoneer offers them optionally in the second row. This keeps the passengers comfortable and takes the sting out of hot seats in summer. The QX80 doesn’t offer air-conditioned seats for the second row.

The Grand Wagoneer offers optional massaging front seats in order to maximize comfort and eliminate fatigue on long trips. Massaging seats aren’t available in the QX80.

To quickly and conveniently keep personal devices charged without cables tangling and wearing out, the Jeep Wagoneer has a standard wireless phone charging system (Qi) in the center console. The QX80 doesn’t offer wireless personal charging.

The Wagoneer’s optional ParkSense Automated Parking can parallel park or back into a parking spot by itself, with the driver only controlling the transmission and speed with the brake pedal. With its available fully controlled system, the driver just activates it and it parks autonomously, starting, stopping and changing direction automatically. The QX80 doesn’t offer an automated parking system.
