Compare the2022 Infiniti QX55VS 2021 Lexus UX Series

To provide maximum traction and stability on all roads, All-Wheel Drive is standard on the QX55. But it costs extra on the UX Series.

The QX55 Essential/Sensory has a standard Around View® Monitor to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The UX Series only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the QX55 and the UX Series have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front and rear side-impact airbags, driver and front passenger knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras and rear cross-path warning.

The Infiniti QX55 weighs 410 to 759 pounds more than the Lexus UX Series. The NHTSA advises that heavier vehicles are much safer in collisions than their significantly lighter counterparts.

The QX55 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The UX Series’ 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

The QX55’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the UX Series’ (7 vs. 6 years).

The QX55’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 99 more horsepower (268 vs. 169) and 129 lbs.-ft. more torque (280 vs. 151) than the UX 200’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder. The QX55’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 87 more horsepower (268 vs. 181) than the UX 250h’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

The QX55 has 5.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the UX Series Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (16 vs. 10.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The QX55 has 3.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the UX Series’ standard fuel tank (16 vs. 12.4 gallons).

For better stopping power the QX55’s brake rotors are larger than those on the UX Series:

The QX55’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the UX Series are solid, not vented.

For better traction, the QX55 has larger tires than the UX Series (255/45R20 vs. 225/50R18).

The QX55’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the UX Series’ standard 50 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the QX55 has standard 20-inch wheels. Only 18-inch wheels are available on the UX Series.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the QX55’s wheelbase is 6.3 inches longer than on the UX Series (110.2 inches vs. 103.9 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the QX55 is 3.4 inches wider in the front and 2.8 inches wider in the rear than on the UX Series.

The QX55 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The UX Series doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The QX55 has 9.8 cubic feet more passenger volume than the UX Series (100.2 vs. 90.4).

The QX55 has 2.6 inches more front headroom, 1.8 inches more front hip room, 2.8 inches more front shoulder room, .6 inches more rear headroom, 5.6 inches more rear legroom, 1.5 inches more rear hip room and 4.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the UX Series.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the QX55’s rear seats recline. The UX Series’ rear seats don’t recline.

The QX55 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the UX Series (26.9 vs. 17.1 cubic feet).

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the QX55’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The UX Series doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

The QX55 uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The UX Series uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

The QX55’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The UX Series’ standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.
