Compare the2022 Infiniti QX55VS 2021 Jaguar E-Pace

For enhanced safety, the front seat shoulder belts of the Infiniti QX55 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Jaguar E-Pace doesn’t offer height-adjustable seat belts.

The Infiniti QX55 has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The E-Pace doesn’t offer knee airbags.

Over 200 people are killed each year when backed over by motor vehicles. The QX55 has standard Rear Automatic Braking that uses rear sensors to monitor and automatically apply the brakes to prevent a rear collision. The E-Pace doesn’t offer backup collision prevention brakes.

The QX55 has a standard blind spot warning system which uses sensors to alert the driver to objects in the vehicle’s blind spots where the side view mirrors don’t reveal them. A system to reveal vehicles in the E-Pace’s blind spot costs extra.

To help make backing out of a parking space safer, the QX55 has a standard cross-path warning system, which uses sensors in the rear bumper to alert the driver to vehicles approaching from the side, helping the driver avoid collisions. Cross-path warning costs extra on the E-Pace.

Both the QX55 and the E-Pace have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, four-wheel antilock brakes, all wheel drive, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras and available around view monitors.

Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the QX55 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Jaguar covers the E-Pace. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the E-Pace ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The QX55’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the E-Pace’s (7 vs. 6 years).

There are over 15 percent more Infiniti dealers than there are Jaguar dealers, which makes it easier should you ever need service under the QX55’s warranty.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2020 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are better in initial quality than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 15th in initial quality. With 17 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 29th.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Jaguar vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 23rd in reliability. With 49 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jaguar is ranked 31st.

The QX55’s 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder produces 22 more horsepower (268 vs. 246) and 11 lbs.-ft. more torque (280 vs. 269) than the E-Pace P250’s standard 2.0 turbo 4-cylinder.

The QX55 has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a CVT.

For better traction, the QX55 has larger tires than the E-Pace (255/45R20 vs. 235/60R18). The QX55’s tires are larger than the largest tires available on the E-Pace (255/45R20 vs. 245/45R21).

The QX55’s tires provide better handling because they have a lower 45 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the E-Pace’s standard 60 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the QX55 has standard 20-inch wheels. Smaller 18-inch wheels are standard on the E-Pace.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires standard on the QX55 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The E-Pace doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the QX55’s wheelbase is 4.6 inches longer than on the E-Pace (110.2 inches vs. 105.6 inches).

For better maneuverability, the QX55’s turning circle is 1.8 feet tighter than the E-Pace’s (36.4 feet vs. 38.2 feet).

For greater off-road capability the QX55 has a greater minimum ground clearance than the E-Pace (8.6 vs. 8 inches), allowing the QX55 to travel over rougher terrain without being stopped or damaged.

The QX55 uses computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The E-Pace doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

The QX55 has 1.5 inches more front headroom, 1.8 inches more front shoulder room, 4.4 inches more rear legroom and 1.3 inches more rear shoulder room than the E-Pace.

For enhanced passenger comfort on long trips the QX55’s rear seats recline. The E-Pace’s rear seats don’t recline.

The QX55 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the E-Pace with its rear seat up (26.9 vs. 22.4 cubic feet). The QX55 has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the E-Pace with its rear seat folded (54.1 vs. 49.5 cubic feet).

Pulling a handle automatically lowers the QX55’s rear seats, to make changing between passengers and cargo easier. The E-Pace doesn’t offer automatic folding seats.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than Jaguar. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti third in service department satisfaction. With a 34% lower rating, Jaguar is ranked 18th.

If the windows are left open on the QX55 the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the E-Pace can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The QX55 has a standard locking fuel door with a remote release located convenient to the driver. A locking fuel door helps prevent fuel theft and vandalism, such as sugar in the tank. The E-Pace doesn’t offer a locking fuel door.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the QX55 (except Luxe) offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The E-Pace doesn’t offer cornering lights.

To shield the driver and front passenger’s vision over a larger portion of the windshield and side windows, the QX55 has standard extendable sun visors. The E-Pace doesn’t offer extendable visors.
