Power ranks Mitsubishi 6th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 39 more problems per 100 vehicles, Subaru is ranked 27th, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2021 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Mitsubishi vehicles are more reliable than Subaru vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mitsubishi 13th in reliability, above the industry average. With 9 more problems per 100 vehicles, Subaru is ranked 17th.

The Eclipse Cross’ 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder produces 39 lbs.-ft. more torque (184 vs. 145) than the Impreza’s 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder.

The Eclipse Cross AWD’s standard fuel tank has 2.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the Impreza (15.8 vs. 13.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Eclipse Cross FWD’s standard fuel tank has 3.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the Impreza (16.6 vs. 13.2 gallons).

The Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross comes standard with an automatic transmission, for driver comfort, especially in the city. Automatic costs extra on the Impreza.

Consumer Reports rated the Eclipse Cross’ headlight performance “Good,” a higher rating than the Impreza’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

Both the Eclipse Cross and the Impreza offer available heated front seats. The Eclipse Cross SEL also offers optional heated rear seats to keep those passengers extremely comfortable in the winter. Heated rear seats aren’t available in the Impreza.

On extremely cold winter days, the Eclipse Cross SEL’s standard heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the vehicle heater warms up. The Impreza doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.

The Eclipse Cross SE/SEL’s standard dual zone air conditioning allows the driver and front passenger to choose two completely different temperatures so people with different temperature preferences won’t have to compromise. This makes both the driver and front passenger as comfortable as possible. The Impreza doesn’t offer dual zone air conditioning.

The Eclipse Cross is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Impreza doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
