Compare the2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse CrossVS 2021 Lexus UX Series

The Eclipse Cross SEL has a standard Multi-View Camera to allow the driver to see objects all around the vehicle on a screen. The UX Series only offers a rear monitor and front and rear parking sensors that beep or flash a light. That doesn’t help with obstacles to the sides.

Both the Eclipse Cross and the UX Series have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, blind spot warning systems and rear cross-path warning.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration does 35 MPH front crash tests on new vehicles. In this test, results indicate that the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is safer than the Lexus UX Series:

The Eclipse Cross’ corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the UX Series’ (7 vs. 6 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2020 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Mitsubishi vehicles are better in initial quality than Lexus vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Mitsubishi 6th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 11 more problems per 100 vehicles, Lexus is ranked 12th.

The Eclipse Cross’ 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder produces 33 lbs.-ft. more torque (184 vs. 151) than the UX 200’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder. The Eclipse Cross’ 1.5 turbo 4-cylinder produces 184 lbs.-ft. more torque (184 vs. ) than the UX 250h’s standard 2.0 DOHC 4-cylinder hybrid.

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross uses regular unleaded gasoline. The UX Series requires premium for maximum efficiency, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

IntelliChoice estimates that five-year ownership costs (depreciation, financing, insurance, fuel, fees, repairs and maintenance) for the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross will be $4868 to $5840 less than for the Lexus UX Series.
