The QX60 Luxe’s optional pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The RXL doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

For enhanced safety, the front, middle and rear seat shoulder belts of the Infiniti QX60 are height-adjustable to accommodate a wide variety of driver and passenger heights. A better fit can prevent injuries and the increased comfort also encourages passengers to buckle up. The Lexus RXL doesn’t offer height-adjustable middle seat belts.

Both the QX60 and the RXL have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front wheel drive, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all-wheel drive, lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

The QX60 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The RXL’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

The QX60’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the RXL’s (7 vs. 6 years).

The QX60’s 3.5 DOHC V6 produces 5 more horsepower (295 vs. 290) and 7 lbs.-ft. more torque (270 vs. 263) than the RX 350L’s standard 3.5 DOHC V6.

On the EPA test cycle the QX60 gets better fuel mileage than the RXL:

To lower fuel costs and make buying fuel easier, the Infiniti QX60 uses regular unleaded gasoline (premium recommended for maximum performance). The RX 450hL requires premium, which can cost 20 to 55 cents more per gallon.

The QX60 has 2.3 gallons more fuel capacity than the RXL Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (19.5 vs. 17.2 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The QX60 stops much shorter than the RXL:

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the QX60’s wheelbase is 4.4 inches longer than on the RXL (114.2 inches vs. 109.8 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the QX60 is 1.3 inches wider in the front and 1.7 inches wider in the rear than on the RXL.

The QX60 AWD handles at .76 G’s, while the RX 350L AWD pulls only .75 G’s of cornering force in a Motor Trend skidpad test.

The QX60 has .9 inches more front headroom, .8 inches more front legroom, 1 inch more front hip room, 2 inches more front shoulder room, 10.8 inches more rear legroom, 2.6 inches more rear shoulder room, 1.7 inches more third row headroom, 7.3 inches more third row legroom and 11.4 inches more third row shoulder room than the RXL.

The QX60’s cargo area provides more volume than the RXL.

The QX60’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the RXL’s (5000 vs. 0 pounds).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than Lexus. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti first in service department satisfaction. With a 5% lower rating, Lexus is ranked third.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the QX60 is less expensive to operate than the RXL because typical repairs cost much less on the QX60 than the RXL, including $863 less for a water pump, $52 less for front brake pads, $237 less for a starter, $930 less for a timing belt/chain and $798 less for a power steering pump.
