Compare the2019 Lexus IS SeriesVS 2019 Genesis G70

The IS Series’ optional pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The G70 doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

Both the IS Series and the G70 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all wheel drive, blind spot warning systems, rear parking sensors and rear cross-path warning.

For its top level performance in all IIHS frontal, side, rear impact and roof-crush tests, its standard front crash prevention system, and its headlight’s “Acceptable” rating, the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety grants the IS Series the rating of “Top Pick” for 2018, a rating granted to only 85 vehicles tested by the IIHS. The G70 has not been tested, yet.

On the EPA test cycle the IS Series gets better fuel mileage than the G70:

The IS Series has 1.6 gallons more fuel capacity than the G70 (17.4 vs. 15.8 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

For better stopping power the IS Series’ standard front brake rotors are larger than those on the G70:

The IS Series has standard front and rear gas-charged shocks for better control over choppy roads. The G70’s suspension doesn’t offer rear gas-charged shocks.

For better maneuverability, the IS Series’ turning circle is 1.9 feet tighter than the G70’s (34.2 feet vs. 36.1 feet). The IS Series AWD’s turning circle is 2 feet tighter than the G70 AWD’s (35.4 feet vs. 37.4 feet).

The IS Series 300 RWD offers available computer-generated active noise cancellation to help remove annoying noise and vibration from the passenger compartment, especially at low frequencies. The G70 doesn’t offer active noise cancellation.

As tested by Car and Driver while under full throttle, the interior of the IS 350 F Sport is quieter than the G70 Dynamic (73 vs. 77 dB).

The IS Series has a larger trunk than the G70 (10.8 vs. 10.5 cubic feet).

With its sedan body style, valet key, locking rear seatbacks and remote trunk release lockout, the IS Series offers cargo security. The G70’s non-lockable folding seat and non-lockable remote release defeat cargo security.

Unlike the driver-only memory system in the G70 3.3T/Elite/Prestige/Dynamic/Sport, the IS Series offers an optional driver and passenger memory, so that when drivers switch, the memory setting adjusts the driver’s seat, steering wheel position and outside mirror angle and the front passenger seat also adjusts to the new passenger’s preset preferences.

To help drivers see further while navigating curves, the IS Series offers optional adaptive headlights to illuminate around corners automatically by reading vehicle speed and steering wheel angle. The G70 doesn’t offer cornering lights.

A power rear sunshade is optional in the IS Series to help block heat and glare for the rear passengers. The G70 doesn’t offer a rear sunshade.
