Compare the2019 Infiniti QX60VS 2019 Chrysler Pacifica

The QX60 Luxe’s optional pre-crash front seatbelts will tighten automatically in the event the vehicle detects an impending crash, improving protection against injury significantly. The Pacifica doesn’t offer pre-crash pretensioners.

The QX60 offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The Pacifica doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the QX60 and the Pacifica have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front-wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, plastic fuel tanks, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

The QX60 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The Pacifica’s 3-year/36,000-mile basic warranty expires 1 year and 24,000 miles sooner.

Infiniti’s powertrain warranty covers the QX60 1 year and 10,000 miles longer than Chrysler covers the Pacifica. Any repair needed on the engine, transmission, axles, joints or driveshafts is fully covered for 6 years or 70,000 miles. Coverage on the Pacifica ends after only 5 years or 60,000 miles.

The QX60’s corrosion warranty is 2 years and unlimited miles longer than the Pacifica’s (7/unlimited vs. 5/100,000).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2018 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are better in initial quality than Chrysler vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 14th in initial quality, above the industry average. With 19 more problems per 100 vehicles, Chrysler is ranked 26th, below the industry average.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2018 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Chrysler vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 91 more problems per 100 vehicles, Chrysler is ranked 31st.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ April 2018 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Chrysler vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 10 places higher in reliability than Chrysler.

The QX60’s 3.5 DOHC V6 produces 8 more horsepower (295 vs. 287) and 8 lbs.-ft. more torque (270 vs. 262) than the Pacifica’s standard 3.6 DOHC V6.

The QX60 has 3 gallons more fuel capacity than the Pacifica Hybrid’s standard fuel tank (19.5 vs. 16.5 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups.

The QX60’s standard front and rear disc brakes are vented to help dissipate heat for shorter stops with less fading. The rear discs on the Pacifica are solid, not vented.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the QX60 has standard 18-inch wheels. Smaller 17-inch wheels are standard on the Pacifica.

The QX60 has standard front and rear stabilizer bars, which help keep the QX60 flat and controlled during cornering. The Pacifica’s suspension doesn’t offer a rear stabilizer bar.

For better maneuverability, the QX60’s turning circle is 1 foot tighter than the Pacifica’s (38.7 feet vs. 39.7 feet).

The QX60 is 3.2 inches shorter than the Pacifica, making the QX60 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The QX60 has .6 inches more front headroom, 1.1 inches more front legroom and 2.7 inches more rear legroom than the Pacifica.

The QX60’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the Pacifica’s (5000 vs. 3600 pounds).

While the Pacifica Hybrid is not recommended to tow, any QX60 can tow a minimum of 5000 pounds.

The QX60 uses gas struts to support the hood for easier service access. The Pacifica uses a prop rod to support its heavy hood. It takes two hands to open the hood and set the prop rod, the prop rod gets in the way during maintenance and service, and the prop rod could be knocked out, causing the heavy hood to fall on the person maintaining or servicing the car.

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than Chrysler. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti first in service department satisfaction. With a 88% lower rating, Chrysler is ranked 26th.

The QX60’s front and rear power windows all open or close fully with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside the car. The Pacifica’s standard passenger windows don’t open or close automatically.

If the windows are left open on the QX60 the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the Pacifica can only operate the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The QX60’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The Pacifica’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

Consumer Reports rated the QX60’s headlight performance “Very Good,” a higher rating than the Pacifica’s headlights, which were rated “Fair.”

The QX60 has a standard automatic headlight on/off feature. When the ignition is on, the headlights automatically turn on at dusk and off after dawn. The automatic headlight on/off feature is not available on the Pacifica L.

Insurance will cost less for the QX60 owner. The Car Book by Jack Gillis rates the QX60 with a number “8” insurance rate while the Pacifica is rated higher at a number “10” rate.

The QX60 will cost the buyer less in the long run because of its superior resale value. The IntelliChoice estimates that the QX60 will retain 45.13% to 45.56% of its original price after five years, while the Pacifica only retains 41.07% to 44.12%.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the QX60 is less expensive to operate than the Pacifica because typical repairs cost much less on the QX60 than the Pacifica, including $83 less for a water pump, $244 less for a muffler, $99 less for front brake pads, $6 less for a starter and $6 less for a fuel pump.
