Compare the2019 Infiniti QX60VS 2019 Cadillac XT5

Both the QX60 and the XT5 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, front-wheel drive, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available all-wheel drive, lane departure warning systems and around view monitors.

The QX60 comes with a full 4-year/60,000-mile basic warranty, which covers the entire truck and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The XT5’s 4-year/50,000-mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

The QX60’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the XT5’s (7 vs. 6 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2018 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti fourth in reliability, above the industry average. With 66 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is ranked 27th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ April 2018 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 20 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

On the EPA test cycle the QX60 gets better fuel mileage than the XT5:

The QX60 has a standard continuously variable transmission (CVT). With no “steps” between gears, it can keep the engine at the most efficient speed for fuel economy, or keep it at its peak horsepower indefinitely for maximum acceleration. The XT5 doesn’t offer a CVT.

The QX60 stops much shorter than the XT5:

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the QX60’s wheelbase is 1.7 inches longer than on the XT5 (114.2 inches vs. 112.5 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the QX60 is 1.3 inches wider in the front and 1.3 inches wider in the rear than on the XT5.

The QX60 has standard seating for 7 passengers; the XT5 can only carry 5.

The QX60 has 2.3 inches more front headroom, 1 inch more front legroom, .8 inches more front hip room, 2 inches more front shoulder room, 2.2 inches more rear headroom, 2.2 inches more rear legroom, 1.1 inches more rear hip room and 4.2 inches more rear shoulder room than the XT5.

The QX60’s cargo area provides more volume than the XT5.

The QX60’s standard towing capacity is much higher than the XT5’s (5000 vs. 1000 pounds).

J.D. Power and Associates surveys of service recipients show that Infiniti service is better than Cadillac. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti first in service department satisfaction. With a 5% lower rating, Cadillac is ranked third.

The QX60’s front and rear power windows all open or close with one touch of the switches, making it more convenient at drive-up windows and toll booths, or when talking with someone outside of the car. The XT5’s rear power window switches have to be held the entire time to close them fully.

If the windows are left open on the QX60 the driver can close them all at the outside door handle. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows at the outside door handle or from a distance using the keyless remote. The driver of the XT5 can only close the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The QX60’s standard speed-sensitive wipers speed up when the vehicle does, so that the driver doesn’t have to continually adjust the speed of the wipers. The XT5’s standard manually variable intermittent wipers have to be constantly adjusted.

The QX60 offers an optional 115-volt a/c outlet on the center console, allowing you to recharge a laptop or run small household appliances without special adapters that can break or get misplaced. The XT5 doesn’t offer a house-current electrical outlet.

According to The Car Book by Jack Gillis, the QX60 is less expensive to operate than the XT5 because it costs $162 less to do the manufacturer’s suggested maintenance for 50,000 miles. Typical repairs cost much less on the QX60 than the XT5, including $260 less for a water pump, $229 less for a muffler, $33 less for front brake pads and $18 less for fuel injection.
