Compare the2018 Infiniti Q50VS 2018 Cadillac CT6 Plug-In

The Q50 offers all-wheel drive to maximize traction under poor conditions, especially in ice and snow. The CT6 Plug-In doesn’t offer all-wheel drive.

Both the Q50 and the CT6 Plug-In have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, side-impact head airbags, front seatbelt pretensioners, height-adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, daytime running lights, rearview cameras, available crash mitigating brakes, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors and rear cross-path warning.

The Q50 comes with a full 4-year/60,000 mile basic warranty, which covers the entire car and includes 24-hour roadside assistance. The CT6 Plug-In’s 4-year/50,000 mile basic warranty expires 10,000 miles sooner.

The Q50’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the CT6 Plug-In’s (7 vs. 6 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2016 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Infiniti 13th in reliability, above the industry average. With 9 more problems per 100 vehicles, Cadillac is ranked 15th.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ April 2017 Auto Issue reports that Infiniti vehicles are more reliable than Cadillac vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Infiniti 13 places higher in reliability than Cadillac.

The Q50 Hybrid’s standard 3.5 DOHC V6 hybrid produces 25 more horsepower (360 vs. 335) than the CT6 Plug-In’s 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. hybrid. The Q50 Red Sport 400’s standard 3.0 turbo V6 produces 65 more horsepower (400 vs. 335) than the CT6 Plug-In’s 2.0 turbo 4 cyl. hybrid.

The Q50 Hybrid’s standard fuel tank has 2.2 gallons more fuel capacity than the CT6 Plug-In (17.8 vs. 15.6 gallons), for longer range between fill-ups. The Q50’s standard fuel tank has 4.4 gallons more fuel capacity than the CT6 Plug-In (20 vs. 15.6 gallons).

For better stopping power the Q50 Sport’s front brake rotors are larger than those on the CT6 Plug-In:

For better traction, the Q50 Red Sport 400’s front tires are larger than the largest tires available on the CT6 Plug-In (F:245/40R19 & R:265/35R19 vs. F:235/50R18 & R:265/45R18).

The Q50 Red Sport 400’s 245/40R19 front and 265/35R19 rear tires provide better handling because they have a lower 40 series front and 35 series rear profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the CT6 Plug-In’s 50 series front and 45 series rear tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Q50 offers optional 19-inch wheels. The CT6 Plug-In’s largest wheels are only 18-inches.

Changing a flat tire near traffic can be dangerous and inconvenient. The run-flat tires available on the Q50 can be driven up to 50 miles without any air pressure, allowing you to drive to a service station for a repair. The CT6 Plug-In doesn’t offer run-flat tires.

The Q50 offers an optional driver-adjustable suspension system. It allows the driver to choose between an extra-supple ride, reducing fatigue on long trips, or a sport setting, which allows maximum control for tricky roads. The CT6 Plug-In’s suspension doesn’t offer adjustable shock absorbers.

The Q50’s optional drift compensation steering can automatically compensate for road conditions which would cause the vehicle to drift from side to side, helping the driver to keep the vehicle straight more easily. The CT6 Plug-In doesn’t offer drift compensation steering.

For better maneuverability, the Q50’s turning circle is 3.3 feet tighter than the CT6 Plug-In’s (36.7 feet vs. 40 feet). The Q50 AWD’s turning circle is 2.6 feet tighter than the CT6 Plug-In’s (37.4 feet vs. 40 feet).

The Infiniti Q50 may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 350 to 850 pounds less than the Cadillac CT6 Plug-In.

The Q50 is 1 foot, 2.5 inches shorter than the CT6 Plug-In, making the Q50 easier to handle, maneuver and park in tight spaces.

The Q50 has a much larger trunk than the CT6 Plug-In (13.2 vs. 10.6 cubic feet).

The Q50’s optional rear seats fold to accommodate long and bulky cargo. The CT6 Plug-In doesn’t offer folding rear seats.

A standard locking glovebox (which can’t be accessed with the valet key) keeps your small valuables safer in the Q50. The CT6 Plug-In doesn’t offer locking storage for small valuables.

If the windows are left down on the Q50 the driver can raise them all using the key in the outside lock cylinder. On a hot day the driver can lower the windows from outside the vehicle using the key in the outside lock cylinder or the keyless remote. The driver of the CT6 Plug-In can only raise the windows from inside the vehicle, with the ignition on.

The Q50’s rain-sensitive wipers adjust their speed and turn on and off automatically based on the amount of rainfall on the windshield. This allows the driver to concentrate on driving without constantly adjusting the wipers. The CT6 Plug-In’s standard intermittent wipers change speed with vehicle speed, but can’t turn on and off or change speed based on changing rainfall.

The CT6 Plug-In’s cornering lamps activate a lamp on the front corner when the turn signal is activated. The Q50 Premium/Sport’s optional adaptive cornering lights turn the actual headlight unit up to several degrees, depending on steering wheel angle and vehicle speed. This lights a significant distance into corners at any speed.

On extremely cold Winter days, the Q50’s optional (except Pure) heated steering wheel provides comfort, allowing the driver to steer safely and comfortably before the car heater warms up. The CT6 Plug-In doesn’t offer a heated steering wheel.
